Mosquito nets are indispensable in tropical countries such as Laos and Vietnam. They are helpful in keeping insects and other creatures from entering the house. Above all, they protect against mosquitoes, which can transmit dangerous diseases such as dengue fever and malaria. However, this material is not only practical, but also has an aesthetic component: It is light, translucent, supple. These qualities induced me to use the nets as a material for printing: the pattern of a Sinh (a traditional Laotian skirt), the foliage from our garden in Laos and the silhouettes of the rock formations in Halong Bay, Vietnam.
